Poor car! It looks like with some love and affection (and money) this could be some cool transportation! It almost blends in with its surroundings! Very nice!
LatentE said at 11:49 p.m. on Jun 10, 2007:
Looks like an MG Midget. Doesn't even look that bad in the images though the rear looks like rust was covered over with bondo. The dash looks to have been canabalized.

I found this little guy in an alley, and the phrase just popped into my head. I think it is a midget, too, but all of the insignias were missing..nothing on the hub caps, either.
Siagian said at 12:17 a.m. on Jun 11, 2007:
what a shame! with some work it could be in car shows! in fact, despite the neglect, it still looks stunning to me...great tabblo Pam!

I feel bad for the poor little car. Congrats on Tabblo of the Day!

It is a symbol of "failure"; we have a stronger German word for it : "Scheitern" - which means failed for good; not getting on, no amending, hope terminal.
Vinca said at 11:32 a.m. on Jun 11, 2007:
I too feel sorry for the poor little thing. It looks quite a car even now. Loved your title and Congratulations on TOD :o)
JuDeck said at 11:34 a.m. on Jun 11, 2007:
Good job on tabblo pick of the day.

That's a great car...what a shame!
Chrisengles said at 11:39 a.m. on Jun 11, 2007:
Please don't tell me that car is really being dumped. Aside from the trunk the body looks to be in good shape - pity.
Zippywinds said at 11:49 a.m. on Jun 11, 2007:
what a great car, poor thing, a beautiful tribute RIP amen :)
Eduardo.affonso said at 11:55 a.m. on Jun 11, 2007:
I was about to buy a painting last week - and it portraited an abandoned car, just like you did here. Great job, Pam! How could you resist to drag it and have it restored?
Pkeener said at 11:56 a.m. on Jun 11, 2007:
Maybe I should knock on the front door and ask them for their email address, so I can send them all your GREAT comments. I was really surprised to find this was awarded TOD. It was pure serindipity and fun to make. Amazing what emotions, neglect can stir. Even for a little car!
Wiklund73 said at 12:59 p.m. on Jun 11, 2007:

Congratulations for the tabblo of the day! Very nice shots, Pamela :)
AliDar said at 2:43 p.m. on Jun 11, 2007:
My first reaction: "Oh no!" it IS very sad to see something be neglected like this, and especially if you have any love for vintage cars. This one looks like it could have been restored and many people would give their eye teeth to own such a beauty. such a waste.
Pkeener said at 3:05 p.m. on Jun 11, 2007:
Edu, I probably could drag it! In High School, my boyfriend had one of these, and we used to have to push it everywhere, when it snowed. They are terrible on the ice, but so much fun in the sun! The painting sounds really cool. Hmmm. AliDar, I am always taking shots of vintage cars, and this one is the saddest. Most people are so proud of their oldies.

Tabblo of the day, great job and congratulation with that. It is a beautiful tabblo but what a shame, such a great car and so neglected, what a sin.

Congrat on TOD, missy! Love the shades of green you used on this - poor little car. Beep beep!

A 1967 Austin Healy Sprite. My dad had one and i knew it looked familiar.

Some shots of some other 1967's AH.

It still has plates on it, so maybe its somebodys project. Sure hope so, cuz they are adorable fun little cars.
LatentE said at 10:18 p.m. on Jun 11, 2007:
Looks like Mistyhale is right. The AH Sprite has a horizontally oriented grill. The MG grill pattern is vertical.

Lot's of great British sports cars in those days. The really small ones I remember were the AH "Bugeyed" Sprite and the Triumph Spitfire. Both cars could "turn on a dime." I once read a book on Carroll Shelby (maker of the AC-Shelby Cobra that defeated Ferrari in road racing) that had a picture of him racing in an MGTD (like the one in my Morris Garage tabblo). He said on a tight curving course he could beat Jaguar XK120s in it. Just so long as he didn't have to match flat out straight away top speed.
Tiffplum said at 11:08 p.m. on Jun 11, 2007:
Love the color and the use of angles...and the fact that it's such a great car!
Pkeener said at 11:17 p.m. on Jun 11, 2007:
You know what, you are right. Misty and Latent My boyfriend had a Sprite first, a baby blue one, then he "graduated" an MG" Wow, all those memories are coming back to me. I had blurred them into one car. I knew it looked so familiar. It was a 67, also. Yes, it turned on a dime. He used to do 360's in the vacant parking lots, much to my delight and horror! :)
Hollyridger said at 1:27 a.m. on Jun 12, 2007:
Wow, Pam, Tabblo of the Day - that is wonderful and very well earned. This abandoned car makes me feel so sad but perhaps someone will restore her one day - I do hope so. Beep, beep, Laura style!
Love2laugh said at 5:47 a.m. on Jun 12, 2007:

when i see pictures like these, i try to imagine back to when the object was new and the apple of someone's eye, and how excited they must have been to get it, and the first ride, and the first ride witht the top down... time flies doesn't it... thanks for this...

I know someone in our Boston Photography Center who would go ballistic if he saw such a fine car still in semi good shape being neglected like that. LOL. Nice shots!
