My grandson is my favorite photographic subject. This was a 17 minute "photo shoot" (including brief "coaxing-to-let-grandma-continue breaks") of a semi-reluctant (mostly reluctant) subject. He tolerates having his picture taken, but then gets irritated. I was able to bribe him to stand by our weathered garage for a few minutes with the promise of his getting to be behind the camera when we were finished. (I'll make a tabblo of his photos and call it "budding photographer - gallery of a 4-year-old") |

We were at the zoo one day and my grandson wanted to feed the ducks but I forgot to bring change for the duck food machine. He said, “I’m sorry ducks. I don’t have any money. But I can sing you a song” and he sang them Baby Mine. |

I wish I could record, or at least remember, all the dialogue that goes on while I'm taking his picture. During this photo shoot, he picks up a stick (photo, right) and says, "I found a scorpion leg. Scorpions have legs like this." |

Boys are found everywhere -- on top of, underneath, inside of, climbing on, swinging from, running around or jumping to. A boy is Truth with dirt on its face, Beauty with a cut on its finger, Wisdom with bubble gum in its hair and the Hope of the future with a frog in its pocket. Alan Marshall Beck |

I coach him some, "smile" - "look at grandma" - "I want to see your face, not the back of your head!" But for the most part, I try to just let him be and photograph the moment. |

One time last summer '06 (he was 3), we were trying to decide where to go out to eat. My sister made a suggestion, and my cousin said "I concur." My grandson pipes up and says, "I can GRR harder! GRR GRR GRR!" |

One day, my grandson was eating toast and his mom asked if it was good, and he said, “Yes, it’s so delicious I can’t take my mouth off of it”. |
