Above: Another old slide. Sheepshead Bay in Brooklyn, New York, USA. According to Wikipedia the name is from a fish of that name that was once common in the bay's waters. It's been a sport fishing area for as long as I can remember. There was even an article in Sports Illustrated about the sport fishing, but that was way back in the early '60s.
No date on the glass mount but probably around 1971 or 1972. This image is not colored in any way. It's what the evening sky looked like that night. |

A couple of more recent views of sundown at Sheepshead Bay. Though the skies are not quite as spectacular, on any given evening they might well be. |

.. and when the sun goes down the lights glisten likes colored jets on the water. |

Not so long ago, when the sun went down, fisherman who didn't want to pay the fees for sport boat fishing would take over the Ocean Avenue walk bridge over the bay. For some reason fishing off the walkway has since been banned. |

But the evening strollers are always there and likely always will be. |

The swans and the moon come out to meet them. |

The stories on the bay don't always have happy endings. There was the old sea rescue boat that slowly passed into the shallow waters, keeping a stately appearance for as long as possible.

The gulls stood vigil till the very end. |

But there's always life on the bay.
The boats are there. |

And the birds too. |

In Brooklyn, everything is colorful. |

Peace. |
