window scenes

A few years ago there was an article in American Photo about a photographer who created a vast collection of photos taken through a window in his NYC home. The small selection of photos that were shown were beautiful b/w and offered further proof that it's the photographer's eye and not the subject that makes a beautiful photo.

While looking out my window a few months ago I remembered that article and decided to give it a try-- an attempt to find something unseen in the decade that I've been looking through these windows.

It's a work in progress and I hope to see better with more practice. It's too easy to shoot the obvious instead of looking deeper and finding something interesting in the ordinary. That's a habit I'm trying to break, but sometimes the obvious is cool if not always worthy of the goal.

What a nice reminder of the beauty in the everyday things we take for granted. Did you use the last pic for a snow shot? It looks familiar. Thanks for this great Tabblo!

Awesome... I love that first photo... VERY moody and atmospheric. You are correct. It is the EYE. Well, there is always something.. either the composition (ie, "the eye") or sometimes it can be just the color. But composition is crucial. These are GREAT compositions and you do have the eye.
