**al's AMUR**

"This is the Amur Maple on my front lawn all ready for winter...

Every once in awhile Dad  (alnorman57 here) takes a GREAT PHOTO but does not wish to make tabblos, therefore, I get the nod to proceed! ;-)

'Tho this was taken thru a window pane this morning, I stll think the shot and Dad's knowledge of same are the 'essence of Tabblo'.

Tellinng stories while teaching with the added bonus of wit and humour IS the 'essence of Dad'~pmc xo

...You may think these are all brown leaves ready to fall. Not so! All the brown you see consists of seeds, the most I've ever seen on it.

The species originated along the Amur River, the border between China and Russia. The soil there is not very good so the tree compensates, for reproductive purposes, by belting out scads of seed in the likelihood of some sprouting. Peculiarly, it doesn't drop very many and they stay on the tree from year to year.

Weird! The tree, that is, not me!" ~alnorman57

MAYBE THE AMUR DOESN'T DROP THE SEEDS DAD.........CAUSE YOUR SOIL IS TOO GOOD!?! A THEORY THAT 'MAY' HAVE MERIT?! (Dad was composting long before it became so popular and his lawn was ALWAYS THE BEST on good ole' Oak Street I USED TO CALL IT 'TREEVILLE' as the other part of 'Sherwood Forest' had 'BIRDVILLE' street names ;-)- too bad we didn't live on Maple Street huh Daddeo?! HAHA)

THX Celia and Noreen!!

Or ELM Street, Patty. I like the info with the pic of that crazy, mixed-up tree. It IS nice to have a story to fully illustrate some pics.

Oh, BTW there is a bus stop some 30 feet left of the tree. On a hot, sunny summer's day people often take refuge, while waiting for the bus, in the intense shade. I tried charging them a toll for same but gave it up as all I got were giggles.
