~ Into the fog ~

The first photo was taken just after dawn from my bedroom window.  It shows part of Foggy Bottom Woods shrouded in fog.

I got dressed, grabbed my camera, and walked down to the woods, that run the length of a valley.

Out onto a country road.  The fog had lifted, and the sun was trying to shine through.

Every decision we make is a crossroads in life, where we consider the options of which way to go, based on what we know and how we feel at the time.

Regretting a past choice is a waste of the present, so make the most of the destination you arrived at, or realize that you have reached another defining moment - crossroads -  and move on.

~ WT

Addition: the first oil I ever painted, many years ago, with more linseed than paint. I thought an autumn-themed tabblo like this would make a good home for it.

Way cool......a wee bit different scenery from what we see here in Tokyo !

Thanks, CHARLES. You had some terrific blossom in the park in spring.

This is so wonderful, Mike. This kind of weather is lovely for photo. Nice colours.

beautiful colors, Mikey!! the mushrooms are ... surreal, perfectly aligned! looks like you live in "cabin country" too, when you look at these trees, the colors, we're quite fortunate... yes, crossroads on a daily basis.

Mike, I love your instinct. Very inspiring photos.

very nice, Mike. I love the trees framed in fog and the discovery of the mushrooms. #2 and 3 are among my faves. I consider your wise words to be very poignant.

Thank you for leaving comments, LARS, ANNELIES, ROD, and PAM. I think that walking alone through woods in the fog is a perfect time and place to let thoughts drift and swirl like the miasma surrounding you. It's cleansing in some way.

Great scenery in the fog Mike. Great effects when the fog rolls in. Love to photograph in the fog.
The quote of WT is quite apt at any time. Don't worry, have fun.

Mike, you live in such a beautiful area..Definitely a slice of heaven..And walking alone in the woods always has a calming, mellow effect on me. Wish I had time to do it more often..Mushroom shots are stunning.

Amazing beauty and wise words. I love this. The mushrooms photos are so special! They look like little white soldiers. The colours of the tree leafs and the mystery that comes from the fog are really stunning. A favorite!
JuDeck said at 11:36 a.m. on Oct 30, 2009:
great stuff here Mike as always...you had me looking very closely at the fog shots, thinking there was someone lurking in the woods. Loved the fall colors, something that I don't see here at all.
Wildthing said at 11:42 a.m. on Oct 30, 2009:
Thank you, EDITE and JUDE. Fog does lend itself to mystery, and to the half-belief that someone is close, hidden within it, lurking just out of sight.
Andre. said at 12:09 p.m. on Oct 30, 2009:
I bet these mushrooms cooked properly in the cabin could add some juicy touch to the fog, MIKE :)

Mike, it's such a misty tabblo, it truly reminded me of the south of Newfoundland (which is the foggiest area in the world). You even shared the same experience with driving out of a wall of mist directly into good weather :-) May I say, that your "lineseed"-painting is totally lovely and deserves a place on the wall even more than a place in this tabblo?

I like #3 Mike, looks as though the tree just stopped from spinning around. Must be careful of those elemental beings.
I often find your initial endeavors are among the best such as your oil painting. Never quite sure what is good and what is a mistake.
HtD said at 9:04 a.m. on Nov 1, 2009:
A wonderful Tabblo Mike. and words with a sence off humor.
Wildthing said at 9:13 a.m. on Nov 1, 2009:
JOHN: #3 is my fave of this set. I have it as a desktop at the moment. And it HAD just stopped spinning: It's a very rare Carousel tree:)

HENK: Thank you. I think that sometimes words can bring pics alive.

Cheek, SNO'! Didn't I walk at Bempton, Brid, Robin hood's Bay, Smuggler's cove, Beverley, etc, etc. I may do a Marathon next year:)
Pattymaryclare said at 3:11 p.m. on Nov 5, 2009:
oNCE again you show us three of your many talents....photog., painting & writing! My absolute fave shot is that UPSHOOT tree followed very closely the 'shrooms shots' lol (WERE THEY MAGIC btw?) t-hee! THAT PAINTING IS 'DIVINE' and reminds me of Dad's oil painting days ..loved all the smells of the linseed oil, turpentine and all the 'tools of the trade' palette knives, pretty colors, palettes of many colors and myriad brushes....your painting stye is so 'sublime'!! (what did you name this painting?) luv this and u too! xox Patty
Wildthing said at 3:17 p.m. on Nov 5, 2009:
Thank you, PATTY. My talents are, alas, limited. I enjoy photography, writing, and doodling, but do not profess to be a master of any. What I do is for fun; very selfish. If anything I do is admired, then that is icing on the cake. I didn't name that old painting, but shall call it Henry, if you deem it should have one :)
Pattymaryclare said at 4:34 p.m. on Nov 5, 2009:
Non non non! le petite 'wildthing'!!! Au contraire...it must be named "Autum's Gold"....tres bien c'est ca Monsieur Mikey? xo
Pattymaryclare said at 4:35 p.m. on Nov 5, 2009:
ooops ..'LE PETIT wildthing' ma francaius un petite 'rusty!!' le lol le haha out!
Pattymaryclare said at 4:38 p.m. on Nov 5, 2009:
"I am rich today with autumn's gold,
All that my covetous hands can hold;
Frost-painted leaves and goldenrod,
A goldfinch on a milkweed pod,
Huge golden pumpkins in the field
With heaps of corn from a bounteous yield,
Golden apples heavy on the trees
Rivaling those of Hesperides,
Golden rays of balmy sunshine spread
Over all like butter on warm bread;
And the harvest moon will this night unfold
The streams running full of molten gold.
Oh, who could find a dearth of bliss
With autumn glory such as this!"
- Gladys Harp
Wildthing said at 5:58 p.m. on Nov 5, 2009:
OK, PATTY, henceforth tha painting shall be known as Autumn's Gold'. And my French is a lot more rusty than Autumn. Nice words from Glady. I'm all for a a great helping of bliss:)

Oh, Mike, the philopher...your words are wise and deep. And your painting is so beautiful. I hope you still paint.
Wildthing said at 3:38 p.m. on Nov 6, 2009:
I wish that I WAS wise, ELIANE. I think we all let our hearts rule our heads in life. And I still paint, but not often. There doesn't seem enough time to do all the things I want to:)
