Vumbura Plains, Okavango Delta

The beauty of the Okovango delta!

This Reed Buck was intended dinner but it saw the Leopard and lived to see another day!

Wattle Cranes

To get to the camp we had to go by boat. Even in the Landrover we seemed to be on a boat rather than in a jeep!!

Three wise monkeys? (baboons)

See no evil, hear no evil and speak no evil!!

Not everything is beautiful in the wild but this is life in the raw!

Moving around the swamps in a Mokoro

One day we had an elephant in the camp all day! This caused all sorts of logistical problems as everyone lived and worked around the elephant.

The Kudu and rare Sable Antelope. In the centre are five lions we were following

The pictures on either side were taken at sunset but the centre picture was at sunrise

You have created a real atmosphere through these amazing photos, Celia. There are so many great shots it is hard to pick a favourite but I really like the Kudu and the way it blends with the background. The bird shots are awesome, too. You were so lucky to catch the rare Sable Antelope. Thank you so much for sharing all of these photos and experiences with us - I have thoroughly enjoyed viewing and reviewing all of these beautiful tabblos.

Wonderful series, Celia! The fauna is so exuberant and diverse - it seems that only in Africa we can see such creatures! The sun, trees, and the water are portrayed with elegance. This is a lovely Tabblo!
Moorlerche said at 2:46 a.m. on Oct 3, 2009:
Thanks Celia, for taking me back to Africa. Isn't it one of th most breath taking regions of the world just by the unbelievable nearness to wildlife? Lucky you, to have seen a leopard.
Lolit_cbls said at 2:53 a.m. on Oct 3, 2009:
This is such a fantastic show window... Congrats!!!! :)

Thank you Doreen, Michael, Annelies, Lars and Bob. It was an amazing trip and some of the views as well as the animals were spectacular!
Muito obrigado Rosane e Neusinha.
Noreen, thank you so much for your kind comments. The male Kudu was a really impressive creature. Apparently he is four years old as he has four twists on his antlers.
Thank you so much David
Fabio, this must be one of the last untouched places in the world. What is so refreshing is that the Botswana government does not allow fencing so these wild places are kept for the natural inhabitants hence we had elephant in camp and it is not unknown for lion or leopard to wander through! Keeps one alert though!
Anke, we were incredibly lucky as we saw a leopard in each of the three camps we stayed. We would have been lucky to see one!
Thank you Lolit.
Thank you Mike, I consider the leopard shot as one of my top five from our trip!
