Fiirst shots with my new TAMRON 90mm AF macro lens
 
These butterflies are fast! The auto focus works pretty well!

this was my first try with the tamron 90mm AF f2.8 1:1 macro lens.

 It auto focused pretty fast, and it is very easy to switch between auto and manual.

Since i was moving around quickly, I used auto focus and a mono pod to steady the shots.

I think I am going to have lots of fun with this lens...

great clarity despite my less than steady hand! :)

I love the f2.8 lens, it's gives the nice DOF and creates the soft background.

I chose this over the Nikon, not just for the $$ ,but it was highly rated and many nikon users liked it better.

With the 90mm you do not have to be on top of the subject, and with the 1:1 the image fills the frame .

 

 
I DID use a mono pod as I walked around the garden
 
These little guys are only a little more than an inch long
 
SO pretty with the iridescent blue greens!
 
You can see the proboscis(feeding tube) fully extended
 
Here the proboscis is curled up, it's just about to land and feed

Deb, I, too, recently purchased this Tamron Macro lens and I really love it. After I had purchased it I came across a review in one of the UK Digital Magazines and out of four top name similar lenses tested it came out tops! I am thrilled with it. You have done very well - this is so exciting, Deb!

congrats on aquiring a new toy heheh looks to be giveing a very good performance are we going to see lots of macro,s with this,
90mm is a nice focul lenght not too close to subjects very good choice,
& the focul lenght is a good one for potraits too,
love your tabblo butterflys/moths& little things are faveroite,s for me
