A marketing consultant, a computer programmer, a corporate 'slave,' a businessman, two housewives, a male nurse, a student, a bum, and a pediatrician signed up in my fourth week of teaching basic digital photography. All of them were very enthusiastic to learn simply how to shoot photographs well. And they did! I told them, anyone can take good pictures anywhere as long as they listen to the artist lurking inside them. :)
