February 5, 2009 the 5th graders went on a field trip to American Village in Montevallo, AL. I was able to go as a chaperon. Basically it is like a mini Williamsburg where we got to learn about Colonial times. We attended the Constitutional Convention, learned to dance George Washington's favorite dance at Mt. Vernon, attended a Sons of Liberty meeting in a tavern and learned how to shoot a musket among other things. The costumes were a lot of fun to see and the actors did a great job. Now I want to go to the real Williamsburg. |
