Mount Vernon, Virginia

February 5, 2009 the 5th graders went on a field trip to American Village in Montevallo, AL. I  was able to go as a chaperon. Basically it is like a mini Williamsburg where we got to learn about Colonial times. We attended the Constitutional Convention, learned to dance George Washington's favorite dance at Mt. Vernon, attended a Sons of Liberty meeting in a tavern and learned how to shoot a musket among other things. The costumes were a lot of fun to see and the actors did a great job. Now I want to go to the real Williamsburg.

Lunch break

Town hall, and row of houses including Paul Revere's home.

Nice shots. Reminded me of a great three days I spent in Colonial Williamsburg a few years ago.

what a great learing lesson! I've never been to Williamsburg - my mom went years ago and said it's a really beautiful place.

FIELD TRIP! I loved being the room mom for those. Your artistic sense really adds to this one. It is a beautiful place. My daughter Amy lives near there.
