TANABATA IN TOKYO , JAPAN .

Tanabata celebrates the meeting of two lovers, Oriheme and Hikoboshi. They live  quite a long way  from each other-on different sides of the Milky Way in fact - and are only allowed to see each other on one day during the year. The brightly colored cards in the above photo contain wishes  for future happiness . The "Tanabata tree "  can rotate if there is enough wind to move it .
