Lessons I've learnt from my friends at Tabblo

 1. Shoot what you love.

This tabblo is particularly dedicated to 3 women I never met in person - but who have become part of my life in so many ways:

 

Denise (from Flickr), who has been teaching me a lot about photography, and who sent me these 10 commandments of photography;

 

Jigs (from Phlog & Multiply), who is one of the brightest persons I've ever met, and who introduced me to Tabblo, some years ago;

 

Dar (from Tabblo), whose strength and sensibility have always amazed me. 

2. Use light to communicate.

3. Capture or provoke emotions.

4. Tell a story.

5. Master technique.

 

Push yourself out of your comfort zone.

6. Show old things in new ways.                                                                                                                                 Change your point of view.

7. Be true to your own style

and your own voice.

8. Search for colors,

 shadows,

textures,

contrasts.

9. Find unusual scenes, unusual people, capture characters.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Reconsider what is beautiful or interesting.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Something that at first glance may not seem "photo worthy" could turn out to be an amazing capture.

10. Don't take yourself too seriously.

Wow. What an experience viewing this tabblo. I'm so happy to see some of my photos here. Haha! Thank you too, Edu, because you are also one of my inspirations here. :) I've been planning to do a tribute, too, for the longest time. I still have to figure out how to go around doing it. This is a masterpiece and is one of the best descriptions of friendship and professionalism I have have sen in years, Edu you are a brilliant photographer and with rare sensitivity to beauty and simplicity. WONDERFUL!! This tabblo is a real favorite Eduardo. Your words are so true. I too have learnt a lot from many of my talented friends at tabblo. And I tried to show them what I learnt at my photography course. Thank you for using some of my pictures. And compliments for the lay-out too.

This was not meant as a "Tabblo Anthology" (some of my favorite pics weren't available for use), but just as a reminder of what's photography about. All the credit for this tab must go to all of you.

I'm sorry I couldn't include all my friends nor all my favorite photos (it would be an endless tab, and all photos by Anna - Decoy - would be reproduced here!).

JUDE: You are right (I hadn't noticed that yet, but this would really make a nice poster... Hmmm, I'm now considering the idea of have it printed) and you are wrong (you and Leftie: none of my photos would fit better here than these I've chosen).

JIGS: You deserve all the compliments - and many more. My poor Tagalog only allows me to undersant "pasasalamat" and "kaibigan ko", but I thank you "with all my soul and heart" for your inspiring friendship.

Texto e imagen, pefectamente "maridados", como dicen los expertos en vinos. Habría que publicarlo en algún lugar más, una pequeña maravilla. Y, sobre todo, real. Sé que es algo profundamente sincero.
Yo podría decir que, gracias a estos sistemas (Tabblo, Phlog...) aprendí a mirar fotos. Entao, obrigado a vc!!! Y, en realidad, a Amanda, ¿no? ¿No te introdujo ella en este mundo, si mal no recuerdo? A ver si debo volver a Palermo a buscar el monedero rosa... :)

Acho que tenho um certo probleminha com número 5 (por conta da técnica - eu tenho muita relutância com isso) e 7 (não consigo ter um único estilo, como você sabe). Tudo depende do dia, do momento em que estou vivendo, Mas foi aí que você colocou a minha foto, interessante. Aliás, eu amo aquela foto - ela transmite uma paz enorme (pelo menos p/ mim). Não sei se você sabe, eu estava numa canoazinha pescando com meu pai, irmão, Gabriel e João. E
ste é um dos tabblos mais sensacionais que vi por aqui. Daqueles que vou ficar visitando e revisitanto sempre.

Nossa, Eduardo! Vc se supera! Amei esse tabblo e concordo com a Elaine de que é um daqueles tabblos que a gente sempre tem vontade de revisitar pq tem a impressão de que deixou de observar algo. Vc fez uma bela coletanea com ensinamentos muito valiosos. Para mim, os mais complicados ainda têm a ver com a luz e com a técnica, afinal, continuo uma amadora, com uma câmara digital convencional e usando, cada vez mais, a do celular, que não é nenhuma Brastemp... Mas o que achei muito legal foi relembrar que coisas, aparentemente banais, podem adquirir um novo sentido numa fotografia. E é isso que amo ver no Tabblo. Sem contar as histórias das pessoas... E, até o momento, a foto que mais amei nessa sua composição foi a da Tour Eiffel vista por baixo. Muito linda! Mais uma vez, parabéns pela contribuição!

Like the others, I feel honoured of you to have included me in here. I'm just using a "no body" kind of camera... Lol lol lol... Your creativity and everyone else's creativities are simply just endless. Honestly, words can't expressed it out for me...

The composition is great. If you may learn fast and get lessons from any experience you are really great person. I am waiting for your next tabblo and I want to see results of your learn. May be I didn't learn English enough so my words are not exact enough and don't show all nuances I wanted to tell - there is no irony here!

I was scrolling along, learning as I went from your insightful assemblage, and felt very honored to see a couple of my photos included. One of the things about tabblo is that a single photo is made into a new thing by its setting and surroundings and the photos it coexists with, and you truly made a new thing here. Really fine work!
