I'm a single dad, self-employed as a marketing/communications consultant in the healthcare industries. My son Aaron is a sophomore photojournalism major at Ohio U; my daughter Becca is an accomplished amateur photographer and a bilingual teacher in San Francisco.
I have Dektol in my veins because I'm the son of a PPA Master Photographer, the late Clarence Snyder. I started shooting for pay as a high school sophomore, using a 4x5 Speed Graphic, then a Minolta Autocord. Went through Lehigh shooting mostly with a Mamiyaflex C2 and a Leica IIIa. Bought myself a Topcon RS SLR as a graduation present. Upgraded to a series of Canon SLRs, all of which I still own. Lived most of my life in New York, studied portraiture with Philippe Halsman, and blended his love of people-shooting with my passion for photojournalism...the synthesis of which is candid portraiture.
Although I shoot exclusively digital (Nikon D300) and lust for a D700, the lure of my Leica M4P system. Nikon F3 and N80, and more than 60 film cameras from the 1930s-1980s is taking me back to film.
