Notice in Safari 3.1.2 (latest release for PC), the tools are on the other side of the page, which differs from IE 7 and 8, but the tools are lightning fast and pics and tools work very well in this browser. Would recommend this browser if Internet Explorer has issues in the creation of a tabblo. Will see what chrome, opera, and mozilla/seamonkey do as well.

Resolution problems again created by AdSR on Oct 7, 2008:

AdSR said at 5:09 a.m. on Oct 7, 2008:
Hi, please see the tabblo I just added, "Cats by Dawn". If you look at the closeup on right bottom, you'll see that the image is quite sharp. The same portion of the picture in the big one is slightly blurred. They are about the same scale. I used four instances of the same photo (dragged from toolbox).

ONLY OUTBOUND NOT INBOX... pmc

Ericf said at 11:44 a.m. on Sep 29, 2008:
Deb, I'm not able to replicate the problem you're describing. Does it happen consistently for you? I'll check your Tabblos to see it I can see the specific issue.
Ericf said at 11:46 a.m. on Sep 29, 2008:
What's the title of the Tabblo you're seeing this on?
Pattymaryclare said at 1:01 p.m. on Sep 29, 2008:
Debs ....those issues have happened to me several times in the past....just had to 'start all over again'....(yup couldnt even find a teeny tiny edge of pic to resize! - they just seem to jump down way down and then 'gone' somehwere....jumping bean pics! lol ) Good luck and glad eric's on it but for me, i just 'shut down' tabblo until i'm over the 'aggravation'' (always seems to happen in fine grid tho. Another question Eric, why so often in a user to user msg do we get this 'STACK OVERFLOW AT LINE ???" MSG and the whole page cannot be shut down w/o soft reboot and msg of course doesnt go - lost forever and have to re-type,,,,,,,what does stack overflow MEAN?!
Debdog said at 1:33 p.m. on Sep 29, 2008:
ERic, it happened numerous times trying to makes the tab "pics from a stariwell"
Debdog said at 1:34 p.m. on Sep 29, 2008:
Eric, it happened numerous times with my "scenes from a stairwell tab"
Debdog said at 1:38 p.m. on Sep 29, 2008:
also when i was making 'reflections on car door...the images would not stay put, or the whole page or one image would be HUGE and you could not find the "garbage can" to get it back in you photo strip to try again, OR i'd switch the grid, and BLANK PAGE GONE! the whle tab except the color background....see how many times i deleted those tabs :) thanks I also TRIED to make one called "meet the queen" which i deleted MULTIPLE times and never posted due to same probs THANKS for you response ;)
Ericf said at 3:41 p.m. on Sep 29, 2008:
I'm looking into this Deb. Please let me know if you encounter these issues again. Patty, the stack overflow issue is something that's being looked into as well...it would be most helpful if, when it happens, to send me an email with a screenshot and your browser information so I can forward it to our engineers.

printing 4 x 6 photos created by Lilybean2005 on Sep 7, 2008:

Lilybean2005 said at 6:19 p.m. on Sep 7, 2008:
I'm trying to print a simple 4 x 6 photo onto 4 x 6 photo paper from flickr to my photosmart c5280. every time i try to print, the printer grabs the paper from the 8 x 10 tray. what can i do?
Hollyridger said at 7:21 p.m. on Sep 7, 2008:
When this happened to me I simply put the paper 4" x 6" in the 8" x 10" tray, in the top right hand corner, told the printer what size photo I wanted to print and bingo, it worked!
Lilybean2005 said at 3:52 a.m. on Sep 8, 2008:
Thanks! I wish it worked for me--when I tried it, the printer driver displays a paper mismatch. I tried selecting both 4x6 and 8x10 trays, and neither would print.
Hollyridger said at 9:18 a.m. on Sep 8, 2008:
Oh dear! I am so sorry this did not work for you. I have an HP printer, by the way.
Lilybean2005 said at 10:49 p.m. on Sep 17, 2008:
Thanks, all, for the help. I'm really angry and frustrated right now with HP/Tabblo. I contacted the HP help center to resolve this issue. I talked to two HP reps over the coursse of several hours, and even escalated this to a tech support manager. No one at HP has even heard of Tabblo and couldn't be convinced that it was an HP company. I eventually talked to a (somewhat) sympathetic manager, but she maintained that Tabblo was an outside company and they didn't have the resources to support it. So where do I turn? I posted to the Flickr forum, and was told that that was inappropriate--ok, fine. I posted here and got advice to contact HP, which makes sense, then I contact HP and they tell me it's not their problem. I'm pretty certain by now that there's some conflict between Tabblo's software and the HP driver and find it pretty hard to believe no one at HP has heard of this issue. But there remains this tempting little option on Flickr that says "print at home with HP," which leads me right to Tabblo. Where to turn?
Ericf said at 11:05 a.m. on Sep 18, 2008:
Firstly, Tabblo is owned by HP and we're located inside of one of the larger east coast HP facilities. Tabblo has nothing to do with which tray your printer pulls paper from so I don't think the resolution lies on my end but perhaps I'm not fully understanding your issue. How are you trying to print out photos? Are you saving them to your computer and then trying to print? Are you trying to print individual photos or are you trying to print out a Tabblo of many photos? Does everything work as anticipated with the exception of the paper being pulled from the wrong tray? There is no Tabblo "software" that could conflict with your printer drivers because Tabblo is completely web based and doesn't interact with your printer in any way, so I'm a bit confused.
Lilybean2005 said at 1:30 p.m. on Sep 18, 2008:
I know Tabblo is owned by HP--the HP tech support people didn't. Once I said I was trying to print from a web-based application called Tabblo, they said that was a third party product and refused to assist me. How could this be a hardware issue when every other application prints correctly to the 4 x 6 tray? Once HP determined that I could, in fact, print from other apps correctly and there was no hardware problem, they refused to help me further and said the problem lies squarely with the Tabblo interface. Here's what I'm doing: Above my selected photo from my Flickr page, I select "prints and more." From there, I have the option to send for photos from HP, or "print at home from HP." I select "print at home from HP," which takes me to www.tabblo.com/partners/flickr/prints. Next page says "print on (inches)" and gives me some radio buttons. I select the 4 x 6 button and the photo tray from the following page. Page then confirms "4 x 6 prints, printing on 4 x 6 paper." I select that, having matched all of my settings, and...my printer tells me it's out of paper--it always wants to pull from that main tray, even though my settings are for the 4 x 6 tray.

I'm with Deb and Linda Eric~ The search feature would be great! I've noticed that when leaving comments on people's tabblos the screen goes hazy and freezes up...that's a new problem I haven't encountered before~ All in all though, I am "over the moon" with all of the new features~ Thanks for working on that Search feature~ I adore Tabblo! Rhonda P.S. The Edit thing that Deb mentions in her comment title is happening to me also~ Thank you!
Ericf said at 9:03 a.m. on Sep 3, 2008:
Deb, I'm not able to reproduce it in IE or Firefox. Is it happening to one or ALL of your tabblos? Can you send me a message here with the name of the Tabblo in question? The Slide show should show your photos one at a time in the center of the screen. All of the photos in the tabblo are displayed along the bottom of the screen and you can jump to any one you want by clicking on it.

Seems like it would be simple to put the search function back. When i look for someone who is not in my circle it's maddening trying to find them if they don't have a recent tabblo posted.

Ericf said at 10:59 a.m. on Sep 9, 2008:
Ok, here's the scoop I've gathered. Our engineering resources are allocated over several Tabblo projects. Developing a new search functionality would require those resources, which are committed to other areas. That's not to say that it won't happen, because I believe it will, but only when we can afford to do it right. I've been pushing this engineering team for a while for search and we've opted not to put a cheap knock off that returned google results, we want to do it right. So please bear with us...if it was an easy task it would have been done a long time ago, if only to shut me up! Thanks for your patience.
Lifequest22 said at 9:50 p.m. on Sep 11, 2008:

Whodat54321 said at 11:33 p.m. on Sep 30, 2008:
HAIVNG READ FINALLY ALL THE 'LATEST EDITION' ISSUES...I've decided to finally voice my 2 cents worth for all tabblo community and executive members. Eric, I, for one, am curious as to why you could not integrate a simple google search bar into the web page to access or search tabblo.com content, which is how some web-savvy tabblo users do now. It would be a very simple matter to integrate this into the HTML code, and take pressure off the engineers to develop other plug-ins, perhaps including offline tools for those on dialup speed connections or those with bandwith limitations/caps from their ISP's. One reason for this, I suspect, is that there may be an issue of patents or such related to the relationship between hp and google. Ending of support for Picasa about the same time as the loss of the search box is what led me to come up with that. On the IE7 stack overflow issues, it's my belief this is part of a known incompatibility with IE7, but Microsoft is unlikely to create a fix, as IE8 is approaching release. (Full disclosure, I'm an IE8 Beta tester). I am well aware that stack overflows are a way computers get hacked into, and that should have been ringing alarm bells at HP, if their systems were affected, or the security of the site's users would be potentially affected. Please contact me, Eric if you have any questions ... I'd be glad to help the tabblo team and all the community as a whole.

This forum has stack overflow problems too created by Lifequest22 on Aug 26, 2008:
|
Lifequest22 said at 3:14 p.m. on Aug 26, 2008:
Stack Overflow errors are mainly caused by humans. When we mention humans we mean computer technicians or computer programmers. Stack Overflow occurs when a program runs low on a specific type of memory. The memory is called the stack, and it's used to store information for the program. he problem is that the stack has only so much room and a sloppy or damaged program can use up that room quickly. When that happens, the microprocessor must take over and rescue the program, lest it bring down the entire computer system. The microprocessor steps in by halting the program and issuing a "stack overflow" error message. The application will stop and either start the program or get a more up to date version of it that does not cause Stack Overflow errors.
Lifequest22 said at 3:22 p.m. on Aug 26, 2008:
The most common cause of stack overflows is excessively deep or infinite recursion. Languages, like Scheme, which implement tail-call optimization allow infinite recursion of a specific sort — tail recursion — to occur without stack overflow. This works because tail-recursion calls do not take up additional stack space.[3] [edit] Very large stack variables The other major cause of a stack overflow results from an attempt to allocate more memory on the stack than will fit. This is usually the result of creating local array variables that are far too large. For this reason arrays larger than a few kilobytes should be allocated dynamically instead of as a local variable.[4] Stack overflows are made worse by anything that reduces the effective stack size of a given program. For example, the same program being run without multiple threads might work fine, but as soon as multi-threading is enabled the program will crash. This is because most programs with threads have less stack space per thread than a program with no threading support. Similarly, people new to kernel development are usually discouraged from using recursive algorithms or large stack buffers.[5][6]
Wopmusic said at 7:38 p.m. on Aug 27, 2008:
stack overflow sucks! i don't know as much about the tech. side of it as lifequest does, but i do know that it has ruined many of my messages and stuck-up my computer so i had to shut everything down. what a pain and what a weak link in an otherwise fine system, i love tabblo.
Lifequest22 said at 10:02 p.m. on Aug 27, 2008:
Franko--I love tabblo too, and I don't know that much either about the tech side. I just did a search on the problem and pasted it here, hoping that maybe it would help the tabblo engineers since they can't seem to find out what the problem is. LOL. I do know from what i read that it's in the programing side. And it's ridiculous that after all this time they can't figure it out. It's really frustrating when it freezes the program. And I discovered that if i try to scroll here on this forum when writing a Message, it will freeze my program. Maybe they need a new message posting program. One that will work. And one that is easier to delete messages in the in box. It takes forever when i delete just one message. Ok, I'm off my soapbox now.
